The first pigeon, first cat and last winter pic are by far the best pictures of their respective sets.

I wish my phone had a good camera :(
It has a shutter lag of roughly 2 seconds and then takes a what seems like a 1/15 picture!

well.. I have more pictures in those sets but these were my favorites :D

What phone do you have ? My N70 had lag too , when it was brand new, but after some hundreds of shots , it was better :D

I want to buy a camera , not a professional one, alteast something mid-end .

For a camera phone i don't think they are that bad. Pretty impressive quality actually.

I agree - they look like a decent P&S camera.
As far as my phone goes, I've got a Samsung A920.

How much are you looking to spend on a camera? If you plan on developing your skills over time you should probably invest in an SLR - even a cheapie.

I've just recently purchased a Canon EOS 40D. You're looking at about $1300 USD or 850GBP (like i paid).

Although you'll get your usage out of a point and shoot, you'll lose the upgradability of an SLR; if you are serious about photography as a hobby and have it fully blossom, you're best investing in something you can utilize later down the road. If you choose to splurge a bit more (even an extra $200 pounds over the S730) you'll have an entry level SLR with which you can learn and grow with.

Over time instead of purchasing a new camera you can simply pick up a new lens to further diversify the types of photos you can take.

If you go with a point and shoot, hands down the best is the Powershot G9. If you can't afford that, look at the previous model - the G7. This gives you some of the features of the higher end cameras without overwhelming you with a huge jump. It's also great for macro shots.

Check out the G5 - it's a bit less of a camera than the G7, but it has RAW file output :)
