Zildjian or Pastie? I'm a former percussionist as well. Interesting shots. Great job with the depth of field on the second, but I just don't like the shot. It's just too bland. The first one is cool because of the patterns.

There is a specific name for that cymbal (and the spelling is cymbal, not cymbol, albeit Bryan's play on words is cool) I'm curious to remember. I want to think it's some sort of crash cymbal, but I can't remember what those "patterns" do exactly. I think they dampen the sound, but as a long shot they vaguely remind me of "sizzle" cymbals that used rivets like this one

Regardless the picture did what pictures are supposed to do. It invoked an emotion and a memory that was strong in my mind from the days of my youth, and that to me makes it a perfect picture.

P.S. Do I see a face in that little section to the left about a third of the way down? *wink

heehee that's because I never told anyone. I was co-captain of the drum line playing TDR Super sensitives, vice president of the band, started college as a music ed major with a minor in percussion, auditioned for college playing This exact same Bach Concerto in A minor for Xylophone and Piano (I swear for a second I had to stop and breath because I thought that was me on video. I remember it like yesterday - still have the sheet music). I was in 3 district bands two regional bands, and two honors bands in high school and played every percussion instrument you could name, specializing in timpani, snare, xylophone, marimba and vibes.

Not trying to hijack, but I also cook *grins.
