how to easily remove exif information?

the more uncomfort way for me to do it till now was to convert it to bmp and then back to jpeg. that removes all of the exif data.

In Photoshop - "save for web..." from File menu. In gimp 2.2 - uncheck "Save exif info" when saving photo (advanced options, below quality slider).
Or you can use program EXIFer - from menu Exif/Remove.

Removing of exif is a good idea if you're publishing photos online, and do not want to expose your private information (date&time taken, GPS coordinates, etc). I personally use ExifCleaner by Superutils - it lets me to handle hundreds of photos just in a snap. It handles not only exif, but also other types of photographic metadata.
