Well, after a quick lil search, the image is appearently real. However, the story behind it is false.

Yeah, I had heard that the image was false, but I believed it to be a legit photo of a normal storm. NOT from the hurricane.. Nice shot though.. Would have loved to have been there at that time.. :)

Bogey, it wasn't posted in the wrong forum. It wasn't until around a year or so ago the Photography forum came about and topics from the digital art forum were then moved to the photography forum. Because the original topic of the Hurricane was created back in September 2003 this will have been pages back on the forum Digital Art forum and won't have been moved to Photography when the forums were split.

I wasn't really going to move it to the photography forum due to the topics age and the fact that i assumed the person posting was just going to be a fly-by poster however i'll move it into the correct forum in just a moment.

This is why the latest advancement in technology especially in relation to photography is so great! Cameras, which used to be as big as a suitcase decades ago have become so small enough to fit in your pocket, that anybody who gets hit with an inspiration can just click away anytime, anywhere.

I think that the picture is awesome. The taker pressed the shutter at the right time, if it had been a second late or early, the color of the sky might have been different and the effect of the whole picture would not have been as great as it is.

I think it's gallant of you, bigweb to not claim the photo as your own as a respect to the unknown person who took it.

Anyway, if that picture is real than that is some mighty hurricane brewing. If it's false, than the creator had a mind for destruction :D
