Now this wasn't taken at midnight, but whatever.
This is my first real attempt at doing HDR. I did it all myself, I didn't use the HDR merge in photoshop, when ever I through a picture through it I never really got what I wanted.

My layer setup was:

Quote:
Background Copy [Color Blending]
Curves (small S curve, First point (40,64), Second point (214,190))
Background Copy [Screen Blending]
Background (non altered)

I like how the photo turned out, excepted I wish I turned up the aperture a bit to get more of the picture in focus. Mainly the grass at the bottom of the image and the paved path way.

The original (low res) is linked below. I would be interested to see how others would go about getting a HDR image from this. I'm willing to supply the RAW file to any ozzu regulars.

An interesting photo/digital art competition might be able to be made out of something like this.

I see you used a single raw image to crank this one out. You can also use bracketing to achieve HDR (I think typical setup is -2/+2, but I'm not entirely sure). Have you tried that?
I'd love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.

EDIT: Removing my attempts at my own shot - it's just not HDR material. Instead, I decided to try your low-res original with -2/+2 and Photomatrix. All the tweakage was inside that app with the exception of the resizing that I did in PS. Here's the result:

the second one looks much more like a typical HDR image with the colors enhanced. I don't think it really matters if the image is HDR quality :-) its all about the learning process right.
