I wanted to share one of my latest shots. I'm quite happy with it. The subject is the paper mill that my town was founded on. I plan to go back and shoot it more, now that I actually have a tripod to use. :P

That's a beautiful shot. The composition and texture are nice and dramatic.

Thanks everyone. I'll post more, but I have to admit I'm a little disappointed in the activity level of this forum. We need more activity people!

Actually it's almost funny. Not used to you posting so much for so long, at first I thought this was another archived post someone drug up *lol

Great shot. Nice details for a night shot for certain. Actually it was so good I could almost smell the mill *holds nose as I pass through town*

Thank you sir. I'll be posting more, you'll see. ;)

oh boy you got that right about the smell. It really depends on the day though. I'm
not sure what it is that makes some days not smell at all and others are
intolerable. Luckily, I don't live near the plant itself, so I never smell it at home.

That's a great picture. I've been wanting to experiment with long exposure times but I don't have a tripod and I don't know if my hand is steady enough. I've only tried handheld as slow as 1/5 of a second successfully.

The EXIF info doesn't show the ISO you shot at. Does the D70 not embed that info?

Edit: Just noticed that this was shot without a tripod. That's insane! I'll have to give it a try.

Thanks. It's a lot of fun, and challenging. Even with a tripod, just not as difficult.

Interesting, I was unaware that the EXIF didn't include the ISO. A little disappointing actually...sorry about that. I can tell you though, that I shot all my recent mill shots at ISO200.

Unflux has this thing about photos and cars. Of course the pictures have since been removed, but I bet he's gonna spank me for the reminder

UNFLUX, you're spot on regards activity here. I'm always thinking of different ways in which to attract the people. There is nothing worse than typing to yourself.

(please don't not reply to this post now, or my point will be proven)

i wouldnt' say i have a thing for them, it's just that they seem to be what i post here. I guess I have a subconscious tendency to think that it's what people will like here...I don't know. Image As for my old car, I can't believe it was that long ago. *sigh - I still miss that car.
