These are pretty cool, they are photographs of real life objects that are made to look like a model.

That's ridiculously cool I gotta admit.

I think I see how it's done, with the blurring and all...

I like the one of the cyclers on the bridge the most ... that's so cool ... I see the blur you're talking about spork, but there's something else aswell ... it looks like the contrast has been pushed up a little bit to give it that "plastic" effect too ...

Yeah. However they did it, it's brilliant.

My favorite is the one of the train/subway cars.

Yeah, the blur and the sort of grainy effect they have as well makes this look like models. The grain I see is sort of the grain you get when you save a photo in as .gif instead of .jpg.

sorry to poop on the parade, but there's no way those are real. The short depth of focus clearly gives that away on most of them. Any wide angle shot like they're trying to depict wouldn't have that at all. Plus, you can clearly see TOY details on wheels and stuff.

Don't fall for this typical spammer's chain mail crap! FIGHT THE POWER!

If those are really just models then who ever made them is an insane modeler.

We should make a competition trying to replicate this technique. :)

Any idea what kind of a lens you think they are using?

For some reason, I was really taken with these images, so I thought I'd play around with emulating the outcome, but using my own techniques. I think I was getting closest with number 3.

Opinions?

OK based on what dM just posted, I believe those can be real. However, not all of them are, that is for sure. That one with the bikes is 100% model. And btw, there are plenty of model builders in the world to take shots like these too. So I'm not completely wrong...this time. ;)

check this one as a sample: http://www.flickr.com/photos/racingsquirrel/2304033079/

granted, there's a lot to be desired with the people cutouts, but ignore the dude's face and look at the building itself. amazing.

either way, good find and very interesting technique. I do enjoy it. :D
