Hello,

Not sure where to post this, or what I should be asking. . so here goes:

My clients have the need to view and track their online viewers. I am using a url variable that works like such:

http://www.4waytours.com/showtour.php?viewTour=43bd

I would like to have a script that does not need a login, but allows for any user to view the statistics on the tour# (in this case its 43bd)

Thanks for your help.

What do you want to track? Maybe that will carify things a bit?

You want to just get user statistics? Try this:

Let me try to clarify. I am creating virtual tours for homes that are for sale. The Realtor is my client. My Clients have clients(The home seller) that would like to be able to monitor how many visitors are viewing their home online.

So, I have a php page that will pull up the virtual tour. I will have thousands of virtual tours, and each one is unique to the house. Example:

http://www.4waytours.com/showtour.php?viewTour=43bd

http://www.4waytours.com/showtour.php?viewTour=388d

http://www.4waytours.com/showtour.php?viewTour=40b8

http://www.4waytours.com/showtour.php?viewTour=43ca

So, these are 4 different homes, with 4 different agents and home sellers.

I need the agent, or home seller, to be able to access a page that will ask them for their unique four digit tour id, and then the page will pull up the statistics for that tour.

Statistics should include:

How many times the tour has been viewed.
Who is refering the user to the tour
How long the user is viewing the tour
etc. . ..

I am mainly looking for a simple php script that I can implement my URL variable into and track some simple statistics. I've been looking for a solution, but have yet to find one that will work easily.

I do not know any simple solution off the top of my head because usually I just program whatever I need myself, however...

Figuring out how many times the tour has been viewed and the referers is not too difficult. How long might be a little more complicated though. It seems from looking at your site that you could benefit from hiring a web developer that has a reasonable knowledge of PHP that could create customized scripts or modify your current pages to better suite your website.

Why not use some htaccess so people can access that ID like http://www.4waytours.com/43bd??

Why do you use what looks like a chopped up hash as the ID? Why not just an primary unique unsigned integer as the key in your database instead?? Is it to prevent random querying incrementing in numbers or?

Maybe you could provide a simple password to the home seller and have it forward to the proper page.

yes, I would like to incorporate htaccess but have not found a clear enough tutorial on the subject.

I would like for my clients to be able to type in their tour number after my domain name: http://www.4aytours.com/43bd

Then, I would like that url to redirect to the correct php page that handles my tours.

I've done research on how to make this work, but I can't find a solution that has been done. Any advice would be great.
