hello,
on my message board members are linking to photos and links of my competition..

i was wondering if it is possible via asp or javascript, to block these images from my board?

if possible i would like to block their entire domain from being linked and images being posted.

a broken image or alternate photo would be most acceptible.

im not the best programmer so i havent a clue where to begin.

any help?

What forum are you using? What's your site?

Try searching to see if anyone has made a plugin for your board.

Hope this helps.

Maybe there's a swear filter, where you can replace offending .com addresses with *REMOVED* or something.

Good idea, Axe! I never thought of using swear filtering that way.

FYI: If you can't find "swear filter" in your options, look for these synonyms:
- Word censoring/filtering
- Bad word censoring/filtering

it is a board a friend scripted for me, there are no compatible plugins or anything.
he unfortunately can not script the code for me because we havent spoken in several years, and im a bit of a novice with this stuff.

is there a pre-writen asp or javascript swear filter i can simply add to my include files that will remove these images? this is kind of an open forum, swearing is acceptible so i never had one built into it.

if it's on a Linux server just use htaccess to block 'em

What Flavor server is your website on? If it's Linux or Unix -- you CAN have htaccess (providing your host allows it) If not -- complain to them loudly!

Otherwise, I'm not sure.

.htacces is one way..

That can stop your imges from appearing on competitors' sites...

But it won't stop competitors from posting their URLs on your forum.

if your site allows uploading of images you can't stop them except perhaps to moderate all postings.

in other words if someone uploads an image you simply respond with a message that the image will be displayed once it has been approved.

PM me
if the script is easy enough I may be able to mod it for you.
