The most hated part of the programming sequence for me is the initial stage...

Ie... ensuring the scope is set correctly for the project.
Scope creep is the biggest killer of any project, regardless of discipline.

There is a considerable amount of effort / time (read money) spent ensuring the project is set up correctly right from the beginning. I would love to do just pure coding for 100% of my time!

But a 100% coding job requires working for someone else... and I like the freedoms afforded to me by being the boss....

Oh and the money too!!! ;)

Love programming, hate bugs

Oh yeah and trying to convince people those 5 lines of code cost as much as the previous 5,000.

Some people don't get that programming is about thinking, it is not an automated task.

Doing programming for fun is nice.... but, doing programming for work sucks. I used to like programming so much that I program all sorts of software for fun.... but, once I start my working life as a programmer, man...... it sucks.... such a stressful and meaningless job. Clients "stupid" requirements, boss "darn" expectation....... and the list goes on....
