I want to offer someone rotating text..... or text of the day

I've done Image of the day where the image links to a fixed url, whereas i can rotate the image being linked to.

I'm wondering if this can be done in a simple manner for a html page?????

I know I could do this In php/cgi with a LWP type get, but i'm looking for something simple that could be put on a standard html page...

Thx

Just type this into Google exactly as you see it:

"rotating text" + scripts

You'll find plenty of prewritten scripts you can just insert into your code.

the only problem is i want someone to blindly be able to rotate MY text on their site... with it only rotating when i change it... SO its more like fixed text.. I want someone to have fixed text on their site that always mirrors my text at a remote location..

huh?

Yeah, you're almost definitely looking at a Java Applet, or maybe VRML if you want it in 3D (which presumably you do as it's going to rotate).

i think rotate as in swap bits of text.

well you could save this on you server:

Code: [ Select ]
myBitOfText='This is a string of text that i won/'t to control on someone else/'s site'

document.writeln(myBitOfText);
 1. myBitOfText='This is a string of text that i won/'t to control on someone else/'s site'
 2. document.writeln(myBitOfText);

save it as mytext.js

then you put this in the other perons html

Code: [ Select ]

Then you change your text variable when you want.

Use an XML feed, much like an RSS news feed.

changing only the text within capsules leaves structure for people to format it to match thier sites look and feel.

Code: [ Select ]

<dailyRotation>Today we put this text here for everyone to read<dailyRotation>

 1.
 2.

 3.

 4. <dailyRotation>Today we put this text here for everyone to read<dailyRotation>
 5.

The advantage of XML is it gives people the freedom to parse the text with a wide variety of different languages from ASP, PHP, Javascript, XSL just about anything. XML is easy to create and update as well.
