Creating and writing to a text file

I want to create a text file in VB and append and add data to it. particularly strings. I have been able to add BYTE arrays to it. but that i do not want.

0=TristateFalse - Open the file as ASCII. This is default.
-1=TristateTrue - Open the file as Unicode.
-2=TristateUseDefault - Open the file using the system default.
