I thought it might be cool with a thread where people post whatever [coding]/[designing] technologies (eg, frameworks, templates, languages etc) they are currently researching.

And any impressions they have gotten from that "tool" so far. (maybe that can help others decide if to research a technology or not..).

I myself are currently looking into Jquery ( a javascript library ), hasn't tested it so much nor has I made too much progress yet (currently researching the selector mostly). However it looks as a promising library, with a few (what I think are) bugs. Its fun learning this library however but knowing some Javascript do help, I'm planning on learning more advanced JavaScript too but I find it fun focusing on a few different things than just one.

Share your "stories" if you like. :) Or comment on the others decisions.

I've got too many side projects at the moment, which means I have little time for any of them. But I'll play:

haskell
It's a strongly- and staticly-typed functional programming language with an awesome type system and cool syntax. Starting playing with it a couple years ago but have yet to really dive in.

Tcl
General purpose cross-platform scripting language. I'm currently looking into it to use at work for a project I'm working on.

iOS development
iOS is the only mobile platform (well, besides BlackBerry, but yeah...) that I haven't developed for yet, so I'm getting into that now. I don't have any Objective-C experience so I'm picking that up as well.

I really like jQuery, been using it for many projects lately. At this time I am not looking into anything new, but jQuery now loads sitewide on Ozzu and more areas here are transitioning over to using that library. It will eventually decrease the amount of code that has to load for some of the functions on Ozzu to work which should not only decrease the load time of the website, but also allow cool subtle effects.

NodeJS |- http://nodejs.org
Node.js is a server-side JavaScript environment that uses an asynchronous event-driven model. This allows Node.js to get excellent performance based on the architectures of many Internet applications.

jQuery Mobile |- http://jquerymobile.com/

Coffee Scripts |- http://jashkenas.github.com/coffee-script/
CoffeeScript is a little language that compiles into JavaScript. Underneath all of those embarrassing braces and semicolons, JavaScript has always had a gorgeous object model at its heart. CoffeeScript is an attempt to expose the good parts of JavaScript in a simple way.

Sass Lang |- http://sass-lang.com/
Sass makes CSS fun again. Sass is an extension of CSS3, adding nested rules, variables, mixins, selector inheritance, and more. It’s translated to well-formatted, standard CSS using the command line tool or a web-framework plugin.

Ruby on Rails |- http://rubyonrails.com

I feel so alone in my world of non-web-technologies...

...yet strangely satisfied :)
