FTP a file from mainframes to pc using javascript

Hi,

I generally FTP files using bat files in dos but looking for a way if it can be done in javascript.

This is ftp commands i use -

Code: [ Select ]
open my.office.com
myuserid
mypassword
GET 'myuserid.mydataset(member)' my_pc_file.XLS    
quit
  1. open my.office.com
  2. myuserid
  3. mypassword
  4. GET 'myuserid.mydataset(member)' my_pc_file.XLS    
  5. quit

With just Javascript it's not possible, though there's active-x and Java based solutions floating around that can likely be scripted in Internet Explorer. If you find a Java solution you should be able to get something working cross browser, otherwise you're going to be limited to only having it work in IE.

I'd start by looking for "active-x FTP" and "java FTP".

active-x is fine with me as I don't have java and will not get permission to install either. I had done search on active-x and ftp but it is leading me to ftp tools to download, not any ftp scripting sample.
