Guestbook script

I recently downloaded the guestbook script from http://guestbook.bigwebmaster.com/ and i am unaware of how to change the permission files. All i know is that you must use something called "chmod", is that right? I also don't know how to upload tpassword.dat in ASCII mode as it is instructed.

I'm kinda new at this

What ftp client/program are you using? You should be able to chmod files with your ftp program. Your ftp program should also be able to specifiy whether to transfer in binary mode or ascii mode.

You can usually use an ftp client like FileZilla to set chmod permissions. There are also other ways of doing it that were discussed in a previous thread:

You should be able to set your ftp client program to upload in binary, ascii or to auto-detect the type. In FileZilla the option is under Edit > Settings > File Transfer Settings.

Im currently using http://www.freewebs.com to host my site and it comes with an file uploader and thats about it.

im use freewebspace too. i get many problem with it.
