How to know when an image has been open?

Is there a way that you can know how many times an image has been open? (If I add a hotlink to an image hosted on my server to a site), that way I can know how many times that external page has been open...

If anyone can shed me some light I'd appreciate it.

ex: this is all i would add to the site... and wanted to know when and how many times the page was open
