How do I make a Photoshop layout into a Wordpress theme?

I have a design in Photoshop that I want to make as my blog page, but I know very little about Wordpress. Ive tried some tutes online, but the themes they use are as retarded as the one I'm trying to replace :hmm: . I want to keep the overall consistency of my site, so hopefully I can slice and dice my layout into a page or better yet plug the code into my layout.
