Hi

I'm using PHP on a MS ISS 6 server (shared account), and I have a writeable folder (ie set to 777) so that files can be uploaded via a CMS.

There appears to be less security in place on IIS, and I'd like to use something like an .htaccess file to prevent scripts being exectuded in the writable folder - eg. certain file types are read as plain text.
I dont need it for creating a password protected folder or for custom error pages, or for SE friendly URLs.

Please dont tell me to move to Apache; I'd love to but its simply not an option.

Any ideas??

You can handle that by Windows permissions.
.htaccess is not available for IIS but there is an equivalent For IIS look into Isapi rewrite filter like this one

Hi Atno

Would I be able to install this on a shared account, or would the host need to install it on their server?
Would I be able to use this only for a specific folder and its sub-folders?
Anywhere where I can see examples?

I've honestly never had any need to use it so I don't know. I just know that's the only way to do it on Windows. But I can answer one question, your host would need to install it on their server.
