hello,
i have been trying to get a form to work. I would like to have it so
that when a user enters information in a field and clicks the submit button, it emails me the information that they submit. i have tried all kinds of ways to make this work and have not been successful in any attempt. is there anything that you could reccomend?

There are multiple ways to do it.

A very simple way - most hosts support Perl cgi script.
Matt's formmail script is a very simple and easy to use solution for that. I was able to do it the very first time without knowing a thing about Perl just by following the instructions:

Here's the instructions:
http://www.scriptarchive.com/readme/formmail.html
Here's the download:
http://www.scriptarchive.com/download.cgi?s=formmail

If your site is hosted on a Windows server you could use Jmail. Just type in Jmail scripts into Google for examples of those.

If you're hosted on a Linux server, you could use phpmail, and although I'm not familiar with that one, a couple hundred people here are and could help you with that.

Information needed -- what does your website host support?

Linux servers per norm will usually support php. They will probably also support the Perl script I linked to above. You may need to ask your host.

Try doing some searches for php email scripts while you wait for answers. You may find something you like and can do. But you'll most likely get good suggestions here for php mail.

Good luck
