List manipulations

Hey guys,
I need to display 5 columns of text in a List (not JList, but the AWT List).
The info is in a text file(say, stock.txt) with the following contents:
10001A|BMX Bicycle|$178.00|12|9
73002B|Acme Boat|$578.00|4|4
50006G|Voodoo Crystal|$318.00|10|8
Prob 1:
How can I get this info loaded into the List (which is embedded in a ScrollPane).
Prob 2:
I need to place the following descriptions above this list:
Code, Description, Price, On-Stock, Now Available
Which one's better: Labels for each, or a List?
Your kind help will be highly appreciated!
