Welcome to OZZU ILKH. I'm moving this to our scripting board, since that's what you really need help with. It's not going to be possible with just plain HTML. What you need deals with code, and there's a wide array of possibilities. You'll get a quicker/better answer, if you can provide information about what is supported by your host provider, i.e. perl, php, asp, jsp, etc... Javascripts for this are abundant, but aren't very good solutions.

Here ya go...

Here's an extremely good basic tutorial on how to do this with script examples

There's a few more examples and add-ons at PHPFreaks too on this topic. Great site. Once you've had a read of the tutorial above, just click on the "PHP Tutorials" link on the left navigation there.

I just gave you a URL, that explains how :)

That tutorial is 10 pages long. It's not something that can be summed up in 2 or 3 sentences in a forum posts - which is why I gave you the link in the first place :)

I know how, I've read that tutorial, I've used the information in that tutorial as a base for several scripts that require basic user authentication/permissions.

If you are familiar with vb you should asp plus the syntax is much easier to understand. you may also want to use php (it takes less codes). do yourself a favor, don't use javascript, it is one of the easiest things to hack into.
