Newbie webdesigner needs help with CGI guestbook....

A buddy of mine is hosting my bands website for free on his server. I have no idea what kind of server he has. I am trying to setup a guestbook on my site. I have bigwebmaster Guestbook Script v 1.01. I went through and chmoded everything but when i try to open the page im supposed to get a login screen, instead the script just opens in text mode. Anyone got any ideas on what im doing wrong??
