i just downloaded fusion news from http://www.fusionphp.net/ and basicaly need help because i've never done anything involving php. Although theres a readme included in the file which shows you how to set it up i dont understand half the stuff in it. It says,

"1. First open your ftp program, login to your account" i've done that

"2. Now make a new folder, call it News or whatever
you want to call it.

3. CHMOD that folder to 777." this is where i get stuck. What does "CHMOD that folder to 777" mean?
It then says upload all the files located in upload folder. Done that
Then it says go yoursite.com/installer.php so i go to my site and go to this page and follow the instructions but it says i have not uploaded half the stuff or they are uploaded in the wrong place what do i do. The page is- http://www.hostultra.com/~sanandreaszone/installer.php

Ok, well CHMOD really means 'change mode'. Which is what it does is like a security type thing, there are 3 settings and 3 groups of people in a unix system. These groups are:
Owner, Group, and Public.
And for each group you can have certain permissions, like Read Write, and Execute. If your using a newer FTP client you should be able to just right click on the file you are trying to CHMOD, and go to Properties, CHMOD, or something like that. Then you can set it to 777, which means it will let everyone Read from it, write to it, and execute it. You will have to do this to lot of scripts that will be doing file manipulation. If you haven't already seen Utopia News Pro, I suggest you use that if you have MySQL availible. You can get this at http://www.utopiasoftware.net/newspro/index.php. I have used this news program for a while now and it is very nice, and stable.
Hope I was of some help to you.
