What's the usergroup section all about?

I have phpBB and I'm not quite sure what it's about. I se ethat you can setup a group and invite who you want or deny who you don't want but what features does this have? Can you post anywhere special for usergroup members only or is it just a list?

Yes, to your last question. You can also setup so members of groups have the right to moderate certain forums by just giving that group access. Also you can create hidden forums that are only viewable and accessible by that group.

As the administrator to my forum, do I need to set up the usergroup for whoever wants one?

Hmmm, been trying to toy around but I can't find out how exactly a usergroup sets up their own posts. Am I missing something obvious?

You would have to make the forum for them if you wanted to do that. If you wanted that forum to only be visible to that group then you would make that forum hidden.

So you mean I have to make a whole new forum like I did for my main one? Or is there a simpler way?

No, when I say new forum, I mean new "category". PHPBB calls categories forums.
