i know about image preloaders ... there are quite a few and they work great.

I wish to be able to preload other content as well (other than just images)

is there a way to accomplish this as the image preloaders seem to not laod anything BUT images into the cache.

thank you in advance for any assistance

I know you can do a lot to speed up your site by caching your data.

Caching data works similar to pre-loading images except that, as far as I know, you have to do it on the server side. You can use several mechanisms to cache your data. The simplest way would be by setting certain options of your web server. For example if you’re using apache, you can set some options in the configuration file to cache contents of some pages and refresh them only at specified intervals according to the parameters that you set. Another way is through the database, if you’re really familiar with the current caching options and mechanisms through the database.

However, like every convenience there is a price to pay. The price is that you are responsible to make sure your setup allows for refreshing of data when needed.

You could load things into tiny 1 pixel x 1 pixel IFrames.
