Hi everyone,
I have a website that offers free resources such as models to people that make PC games with gamestudio,
Even thou the resources are free I would like to keep track of who is downloading them.
My question is can someone tell me or point me to a good tutorial on how I can make it so people would have to register or login before they can download anything, Please keep in mind that I'm new to this sort of thing.

Thanks in advance

check http://www.hotscripts.com

I know exactly what you're talking about.

Alot of the free CMS's have an option to use this feature, as do other message boards that require you to register before they can do ANYTHING.

Anyways check that site, i've gotten SO MUCH great stuff from there.

Good Luck. :)

I had scripts, But I found better ones at that site, Thanks Frostbyt3

My main problem is how to apply it to the site, I don't know where to put the scripts,
Is there a tutorial that you know of that shows how to do it :?:

Which script you got? Naturally, each script has its own install process.

I would recommend looking at http://www.devshed.com or http://www.devx.com.

you could also do a search for tutorials on user registration and then storing information in a database ie the people who download things.

Don't be scarred off by the code, when I first saw PHP i almost feel over and cried and the more I fiddled with it the easier it became.

Good Luck

I have 8 scripts, Sign up, Login, Logout, Profile, User, Download, Change,
and Data which I'm guessing keeps the usres info,
But none of them explain where or how to place them,

I'm guessing I would have to modify something so when someone clicks to go to a certain page they would be directed to the register or login page.

I will check those sites above, Any other help would be appreciated

Thanks.
