I'm thinking of creating a simple bot blocking script....

Hi Guys'n Gals I am thinking of writing a simple bot blocking script to prevent bots from processing forms.

the script would be based on the alphanumeric images often seen these days. but I wanted to make an easy one that any one can incorporate rather than some expensive proprietory system.

it could be used to prevent automated signups etc..

My question is:- Is it needed? or would I just be wasting precious cycles.

I guess I am trying to get a quick straw poll on what percentage of users would like to incorporate such technology
