Is it possible to create a section on my forums that cant be seen by anyone when they are in the regular forum area but can be seen by anyone who clicked a link to that topic?
Let me explain what I am trying to do.
I would like to use my forums to write articles in.
I dont want my users to read the articles in the forums though I
want my users to click links on my homepage (html) and those links will take them to the articles which I hope will be (php) a thread .
I just dont want my forums to show a section that says articles.
Does this make any sense or do you all think I am crazy?
By the way my name is Doug Sapusek and I have a very new Florida Fishing and Hunting website.
Check it out.
Thanks in advance for any help you might have.
By the way this site is tight!

I'm not exactly sure if I know what you're asking, but here goes...

I think that you could use a PHP script or JavaScript that displays info accroding to the page that the user came from. Here's a simple PHP script you might use...

Code: [ Select ]
<?
$pagecamefrom = $HTTP_SERVER_VARS['HTTP_REFERER'];

if($pagecamefrom=="whatever.html) {
  echo("<a href=\"what2.html\">Click here</a>");
} else {
  echo("You are not logged in");
}
?>
  1. <?
  2. $pagecamefrom = $HTTP_SERVER_VARS['HTTP_REFERER'];
  3. if($pagecamefrom=="whatever.html) {
  4.   echo("<a href=\"what2.html\">Click here</a>");
  5. } else {
  6.   echo("You are not logged in");
  7. }
  8. ?>

If that's not what you're asking... well, please clarify a bit.

Basically, you are saying that you want a way to write articles that people visiting your website can see without having to code the thing with line breaks and paragraph tags every few seconds.

Why don't you just use a news script? Such as the following:

http://cutephp.com/cutenews/

http://www.aneve.com/dev/news/

http://www.fusionphp.net/index.php?cat= ... e=features

http://www.phparena.net/downloads/pafil ... file&id=49

http://www.boesch-it.de/sw/simpnews.php?lang=en

http://xnews.newsguy.com/

Hope this helps.
