What does 'tier 3 applications' mean?

Such as 'Provide "tier 3" application support to Garvin's internet and/or business software applications'?

I was under the impression the tech support came in tiers. When you call with a tech support question and the tech has trouble answering it, he kicks it up to the next tier or level.

I didn't know that applications were sold with certain level of tech support, if that's what it means.

It does not mean "Tier 3 Application", the way it was worded is bad even though he put "Tier 3" in quotes.

It should be "Provide application support at a tier 3 level for Garvin's Internet and/or business software applications."

Tier 3 tech support is usually the highest level of tech support. The people who know everything. My friend often brags how on a few occasions he found something so wrong with something that he made it to tier 3, and how his friend was assisting NASA engineers as tier 3 tech support because NASA couldn't figure something out.

example

1.Client Tier or user interface
2.Middle Tier or business logic
3.Data Storage Tier

:D

What does a security job have to do with tier 3 tech support?

I knew I saw this somewhere:

"We would like to announce some exciting news at GemStream. We have recently been acquired by Jumpline.com, Inc. Jumpline is a privately owned, tier one web hosting provider, servicing over 75,000-hosted sites since 1997"

When they say 'tier one web hosting provider' are they talking about tech support in this instance?

Good luck on the job search, Bogey.

Get a job in retail. It'll make future jobs seem awesome and the discounts are pretty sweet, especially on a high school budget. I worked at a major electronics retailer for two years in HS and it was fantastic. Sort of.

I'll try that advice. But I need something that gives me at least $200+ a week...
