My site, HacknMod.com generates about 20K impressions a day and the site is served dynamically through wordpress. When we receive a high amount of traffic, sometimes the site loads a 503 error or loads extremely slow. Our host recommended installing the Super-Cache wordpress plugin, but it doesn't seem to be working with our custom theme.

Furthermore, the store, powered by Cube Cart, loads extremely slowly because the pages also load dynamically. - HacknMod.com/store

How can I create static pages for the site so when we receive large amounts of traffic the site still loads quickly for all users?

Hosting plan specs:

Disk Space 10GB
Bandwidth (per month) 600GB
Application memory** 80MB

First thing you should probably look into is
http://xcache.lighttpd.net/wiki/Introduction

Past that, have you looked into why that "super cache" plugin isn't working as expected ?

We've looked into it, it has something to do with the theme, but we don't know what exactly. We installed hyper-cache for wordpress and it seems to have helped the situation a bit.
