I'm now a relatively novice webmaster who hasn't designed a site in years, so not up to date with the latest WD trends. I'm trying to build a site using javascript and whenever I open what I've done in IE7 I receive an ActiveX notification. My boss doesn't like this and wants me to build a site that doesn't trigger ActiveX. Is there a simple script that pre-empts Active X, or need I employ certain javascripts or CSS techniques that do not cause this to trigger?

Better yet, what's the error message?

Right now the site's not live, it's sitting on a staging server internal to the company I work for.

The message says "to help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer. CLick here for options..."

How did you create the site? I know with photoshop's "Save for Web" it does that if you have rollovers, and I think that also happens when Dreamweaver creates rollovers it does that ...

I'm using Dreamweaver (from CS3) yes, but I'm not using rollovers. Instead, I'm running a CSS Horizontal List menu that is governed by an external javascript file.

I'm not sure, the script is freeware. Perhaps it is a rollover type scripting because I think it's telling the page to display the dropdown menu when hovering over the object line of text.

Unfortunately I cannot say what is going wrong there without seeing it ... Maybe you can post some code or put the site somewhere temporary live ...

I figured it out! Thanks, we put it on a different server and for whatever reason to activeX stopped acting up.
