Since I could not seem to find a place to post an "idea" I had that I think would help solve a lot of problems for web hosts, and for which I do not have the skills to develop myself, I went looking for a place where someone like myself could post an idea for a project where programmers could view it, along with anyone else's suggestions.

I could not find such a place.

I hope this won't be considered spam but I created a group for non-programmer web developers to suggest ideas to programmers in the Open Source spirit and want to invite everyone.

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/opensuggest

This is not commercial, the intent is to entice Open Source projects based on suggestions from people who have problems but lack skills to solve them.

You know, most open source programmers don't exactly work in teams... It's kind of a hobby.

That's cool...how I got started too. Don't care if someone writes code as a part of a team or a hobby because all are welcome !

Then what's the point of it if you're not trying to start any teams?

I am happy with a team of any number including one. Sometimes projects start with one then grow because they generate interest. Everything starts someplace.

But I'm still not getting the purpose. Are there any ideas posted?

Log in and see! It is new, no members yet. As I stated above this is an invitation to join.

But I looked, and there's only 2 people. If there's no ideas, there's no purpose to it.

So join then there will be more...then send someone else and there will be still more. As I said above...IT IS NEW !!!! this is an invitation. If you are not interested fine...don't join.

The purpose is to collect interested people into a group. It is not a group until people join. When it is new there are no people until people are invited and join.

This has been discussed enough. You are welcome to join or not.

Sorry If I'm not straight-forward enough. What I'm trying to say is that you should start by gaining the "ideas" portion first, then the programmers. Programmers without ideas joining the group are still programmers without ideas.

I tend to try to help others come to conclusions rather than give it to them. It's a habit. You seemed offended though, so I figured maybe I went too far? :P

No I think you did not understand. Since it is a new group we need BOTH, Ideas and Developers. A "new group" by definition has nobody at all.... If there are no developers, people with IDEAS will say, "who will see my idea" and developers will say, "what ideas". Sort of a chicken and egg thing don't-ca-know !

BTW, The structure for "IDEAS" is there already. By definition an idea has to be posted first but it requires an audience.

Hehe, okay then. I'm in. I wonder where we could find people with ideas....?

Edit: It's telling me that my e-mail address is invalid.... Any idea why? I'm using "support@volectricity.com." Have you limited it to yahoo addresses or something?
