I am having problems viewing my PHP pages in Dreamweaver using Firefox and IE.

My default browser is Firefox and that's the one I really want to view but my secondary browser is IE, which is still popular (unfortunately) and I need to be able to view pages in that browser too for testing.

Can anyone give me tips on how to set it up properly? When I try to view the pages on my localhost, I get a lot of error codes and strings pertaining to javascripts and such.

I could post the messages here and try to tackle the many issues but I was hoping there might be a simple workaround that I am unaware of.

Anyone?

You can't. You have to set up a server locally and view it in a browser.

Search google for "WAMP php."

Thanks for the response. I have a server (localhost) and PHP in my computer.

I discovered that if I copy-and-paste the HTML code from the internet (the testing site) and paste it into a new page and save that page, I am able to view the page correctly in Dreamweaver from my server.

Strange, but it's a workaround that seems to be working for me.

Dreamweaver isn't meant for that. You just look at it in the browser. That's it. Dreamweaver's design mode is for developers that don't know what they're doing. Writing HTML and CSS is faster than dealing with design mode.

I don't agree that handwriting is faster than dealing with design mode but we all have our preferences.

Well, the more you do it the faster it becomes.

The only time design mode is "faster" is when dealing with tables, but we've evolved beyond tables. Dependence of Dreamweaver will cripple you.

DW ver.5+ offers a live preview that loads and displays the php elements as they would appear live in a browser. It's still easier to edit php files in code mode but it would be nice to have a real time php display for some layouts.
