Surely u'd be better off starting with VB.NET it's supposed to be easy to use, plus you've then got the added knowledge for ASP.net etc etc and web services.

There are videos out there, i purchased a training kit for .net which covered the basics, fundementals and an overview of advanced functions.

the msdn.microsoft.com site gives sample code obviously, there are sites out there it's the same as everything search search and more search.
