Looking for something to do using real data ?

There's all kinds of stuff to work with ranging from US Census data to NEXRAD locations to results of the Residential Energy Consumption Survey. Bound to be something in there to get your brains gears churning.

The biggest file I found is 31 MB which froze all of my running application and made them non-responsive... Took me about 2 minutes to type this 
Event Viewer shows two errors titled 'Application Hang' with content 'Fault bucket 734562961.' and 'Hanging application rundll32.exe, version 5.1.2600.5512, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.'

But I want something that is like 500MB and do statistical stuff (Training) like what you suggested to that one person on that one thread
