For a beta it's extreamly stable, actually I don't think I've managed to break Win7 yet. It's a little faster then Vista on identical hardware but is still not as efficient as XP is on the same hardware. We have a few documented incompatibilities between our industry software and Vista and most of t...

I thought I would post a follow up on this. It turns out it was the "NetBios over TCPIP" option was turned off under the advanced properties. The systems were resolving outside sites fine through DNS but inside locations were hit and miss. They were able to see one of the servers fine, it ...

Two of the off site locations are having trouble connecting to one of the servers at the main office. There is another server at the mai...

Home versions are meant for home users. Your 'Average' user isn't going to have a domain based network at home.
So, yeah, if you want more features, pay MS more money.

There is a fix for it on microsofts site. The same problem happens if you make a 2k3 server a domain controller. It changes something with ASP that can make some things stop working.

1. Merge Outlook1 (5GB) and Outlook 2 (3GB) into one file and remove duplicates. If you have both of them open in the new PC, just click on the Inbox of the second personal folder, press CTRL+A (select all) and then CTRL+X (to cut), then click on the Inbox of the first personal folder and CTRL+V. T...

I used to use a program for WinXP that would let you customize the initial Windows logo screen and the logon/welcome screen, it was called LogonUI, it was free, just make sure you download the correct executable that matches what SP you are on. Worked great.

The kids just ruined ANOTHER dvd! I've been wanting to do this for a while but now I'm adamant that I'm going to find a way to do it. I spent the night looking for software that I can rip all the kids dvd's onto the hard drive. I downloaded 8 different programs but they either don't work at all or a...

On Vista PC run, secpol.msc then Under Local Policies > Security Options, Change the following two settings - Domain Member: Digitally Encrypt sign secure channel data (alway...

Thanks ATNO/TW!
It's always nice to find a fix to a problem before you even have to ask for it. Well done.

Outlook stores everything (contacts, appointments, emails, notes, etc) all in one file, the PST file. Usually outlook.pst but sometimes mailbox.pst depending on the install. You are likely to find an archive.pst in the same directory with all the archived emails. file location is usually C:\Document...

I came to Ozzu with the intent of asking for help with a problem, but this is likely to be the venting of a linux newbie. why can't linux support standard installations? Am I just missing something completely obvious? I have AIX and OpenBSD servers at work. I do basic maintainance on them, (backups,...

I was dealing with a clients PC that had a malware on it that would close regedit, taskman, and other programs as soon as they were opened, the only way I was able to get anything to work was renaming everything and then they stayed open long enough to try and fix it. It sounded like you had a simil...
