i just dealt with this problem about a week or 2 ago, but i forget exactly what it was. Probably a virus. I'll go over my old calls and see what was going on with that machine and get back with you. In the mean time try using the stinger tool you can get from mars.utm.edu/~brikferg/files/stinger.exe...

If you don't need the info on the old drive, you have a few more options. What i would do is plug your old drive (i'll refer to it as the 40gb). You should proably remove your other drive just to make sure you don't erase any data you don't want to. Next you want to use fdisk command to delete the p...

This problem sounds about textbook for norton antivirus. Most likely its not so much an explorer issue, rather than something is wacky with nav or there is a virus, or something just got plain corrupted. Sorry not much help with this post, but i'm looking into it for you

It all depends on which version of windows your running. If your using windows xp it is as simple as right clicking on the folder you want to change the icon for and clicking properties, customize, and change icon down at the bottom. I have a question. WARNING! - don't try unless you know what you a...

You can't change the user account if your not admin, but you should be able to view them. Right click on My Computer, click manage. Now go down to local users and groups and see what you got under users. Check your account to by right clicking on your name, properties, click on member of tab to see ...

If you ever have a similar problem, 1. check for corruption (which do did, good job) 2. you should also check to make sure that outlook doesn't have auto-archive set to move old emails to a specific folder. That also could make your emails 'disappear'.

That helps a bit. If i could get a hard figure i would appreciate it. I have a nice fiber network here in town, not sure what the bandwidth limit is on it, but i'm pretty sure with some connections i have i can get my bandwidth opened right up without having costly t3's, but i just would like a numb...

what windows os are you using? When you are trying to remove anything like that, always go into safe mode because it is less likely to load drivers and settings that are infected. Try using Stinger tool(mars.utm.edu/~brikferg/files/stinger.exe) I believe this is made by mcafee also but might clean i...

Usually it will give you a message when it can't find the hd. But defiently try lucassix's suggestion with checking your connections. Does this computer have more than 1 HD? Is there any accompanying messages other than the setup, and reboot?

some windows XP machines are set to use the WINNT folder instead of windows. I've seen a few oem xp installed like this. I'm pretty sure that sp2 didn't change your folder, it was probably already like that and you just never noticed. If you like me, you deal with so many versions of windows and sla...

I work for the university of tennesee IT dept. I've seen a few computers that sp2 just destroyed. I'm not sure that microsoft was really ready to release this sp, but for those of us that it works with, its kinda nice. Your best bet is to get to safe mode and just remove sp2 (Start, Control Panel, A...

if it is a dedicated server, then thats what it is. a dedicated server. Really if you want to play it and run the server, i believe you can run a server with just halo, and i guess leave it running all the time for your friends (& foes). If you want to run a real dedicated server, you can pick u...

Yea i get that, i just need a figure. Currently i have a 5mb up/down for my server, but i want to know how much more i will need to increase that to run a good web hosting biz. Of course i plan to only expand with the buisness, so i'm not going out and leaseing a t1/t3 line until i have to.
