Where's Madagascar 2 in the list? :)

Are you being contacted by Linkstar by any chance?

Aside from whether they pay, the moment you starting selling text links, you're risking a Google penalty.

There's LOADS. Just search Google for things like "uk directory" or "uk directory add url" etc..

Personally, with larger pages, I would be looking to promote more than just a few of the pages.

Why not have unique content throughout, and target the search engines with each page individually? It gives you a better chance of getting more visitors...

Thanks, James... sorry, I don't quite get the last bit of your post. What is it that you'd like me to do at your site?

Thanks, Anaster... will look into that.

Ryan... glad you liked it. Would be interested to see what you created if you don't mind posting the links.

The site has been re-designed since you posted. The instructions are now expandalabe as you wish. ie. you can have short instructions that tell you the basics of each step, or you can expand the help if you require additional assistance.

What do you think now?

Any comments, folks...?

We've just created a new tool/website at

The design is deliberately simple, to hopefully reflect the simplicity and ease with which you can create maps for your own site.

Opinions welcomed.

If you like an even easier option, that doesn't require you to install a script, please take a look at our offering at and tell me what you think.

Hi Justin

Try our site at

You get a lot more control than you do with Bravenet with this one.

Calling all forum owners... anyone interested in "swapping" posts? I'm happy to do this with anyone, and would be prepared to match you post for post for as long as you wish to continue with it. (ie. you post 20 messages on any one of our forums, and I'll do the same at your's - this helps both our ...

Thanks, but there's was nothing wrong with the original subject line. The new subject doesn't make sense - it would if you said "where ice creams" come from but not "ice cream cones". I don't really like forums where the moderators change what you say and make it mean something quite different. :( A...

Why was the title of my post changed to "Where ice cream cones come from"...???!

That doesn't even make sense.

Hello there, I'm looking for a simple product that will just help me manage my invoicing, preferably freeware or at least inexpensive. I just need it to the invoices, add VAT and an invoice reference, and to preferably keep an archive or record. I would also like to be able to manage who has and has...

Tom - I should also add that we can offer branded versions of our content if you are interested - see and - both these sites pull on data, but each have their own look and feel. Content syndication, I think they call it.

Post Posted: November 27th, 2003, 5:55 am

Thanks all...

Tom... I am aware of your realadventures site... we also run (and the forums at should you wish to join!). If you think we can help or work together at all, just get in touch.

Looks clean and professional to me... well done!

The important thing (yet something that's all too often overlooked) is that it's functionalm - ie it does the job.

Post Posted: November 10th, 2003, 10:22 am

wouldn't it be easier to create the site using a database? and store the information about the hotels? would save time because of the use of page-mapping templates and would be easily updatable with a CMS (Content Management System) Other than that, the visual design is really good and the site is ...

Hi Bubba

We have a shopping category on our business search engine that you can request a free link on if you wish.

Good luck with your promotion

Post Posted: October 15th, 2003, 1:05 pm

If your site is business, sport or travel based, then you can submit to any of the sites in my sig. It's free.

We shall shortly be putting together a huge resource at (it's not there just yet, but should be coming before Xmas) which will hopefully help you.

The version of this that I saw was different. It had the penguin sticking his foot out and tripping the other one up instead. Either way, it's pretty neat! :D

It depends on how you define SEs and directories. Certainly, if it's an SE like Google which has bots that find you, then I wouldn't worry about submitting. If it's a SE which doesn't have such a bot (now I appreciate that some would say that's not a SE), then I would bother to submit.

My handle is the one I always use and is just an abbrevation for my football team.

Post Posted: October 15th, 2003, 12:52 pm

I think Google stands to be around for a while but I don't think it will necessary always dominate the market.

Post Posted: October 15th, 2003, 12:46 pm

I agree with phpBB although some would argue for vBulletin so you might like to look at that one also.

Post Posted: October 15th, 2003, 12:39 pm

I've submitted some sites.

Hope that helps.

Post Posted: October 15th, 2003, 12:37 pm

Good luck with the site, Jake... it's hard work getting a SE going.

Post Posted: October 15th, 2003, 12:36 pm

Please tell me what you think of our UK Hotel website.

Hi Johan

Thanks for the feedback.

Hi there We've created a brand of 3 search engines (see signature file). The first was launched 18 months ago and is our travel search engine, now with over 20,000 listings. The second - our sports search engine - was launched 2-3 months back, and has been a little slow to get going. And finally, ou...

Simple layout which is a good idea with ecommerce.

But there's no statement as to who you are, etc. I wouldn't buy from a site where I didn't know who I was dealing with.

Post Posted: September 16th, 2003, 5:08 am

I like the torn paper effect but I'm less keen on the animation. That doesn't really add anything, I don't think. Also, not sure how good an idea it is to turn off the vertical scroll bar. Because I have the Google and Alexa toolbars, my screen set to 800x600, and large IE buttons, I could only just...
