Hey folks- an update. Here's a couple things I did today: 1. Removed the RAM with the CPU still installed - got a beep every second that went away when I put the ram back in. 2. Removed the CPU (Read below) - got nothing. No display or beeps. 3. Removed the CPU and RAM - same lack of success, nothin...

I would do that, but like I posted earlier, I am unable to get any kind of display, even with a different video card. I tried on all display ports and still got nothing. I took out the battery to reset the CMOS and got nothing (no display). The computer just turns on and all the drives startup like ...

Hey folks, it's been a long time since I've been on here and have a question for you, the community. I have a friends computer here that starts up with fans running like normal, but puts out no display. No hard drive activity or cd drive activity, other than the normal post-time stuff. Things I have...

Sup folks. Excuse me for being gone a while since my last post. School and switching to OSX86 have been taking a lot of my time tweaking and such. My hard drive intended for my backup oddly lost all my files. out of about 98 gigs of stuff on there i only got back about 7 gigs. i'll look for the pict...

Hey folks. It's been a while. I've been having some recent t23 problems myself, again. Sometimes when I first pull the computer out of my bag to turn it on, it's had time to cool down, i get one beep, then continous series's of three beeps. I then shake the computer around for a little, cycling thro...

I'm glad I could help you. The T23's are nice little laptops. Very sturdy seems like to me. Glad I could help.

One thing you could do is completely take the notebook apart. Check the solder points on the motherboard and if any are loose solder them back in. Just be careful not to solder points back together that aren't supposed to be together. Basically solder carefully.

I heard that if you leave it unplugged and with the battery taken out for about a week then you will get some more life out of it. I would take out the hdd see if it boots. Try running with minimal setup. The system itself, 1 ram stick, and the hard drive. Try that and report back. Also some specs w...

I have a major problem with windows. Boo... I recently had another melt down of the same sort to where windows would no longer boot. This had happened before but what I did then was run a checkdisk let that fix it and then replace a corrupted MUP.SYS file. Of course I did this from a friends Athlon6...

Alright. Well i've permanently found the problem. This requires that you disassemble the notebook solder a piece back on, and put it back together. The motherboard had a magnet-looking piece that got pulled off the mobo. Soldering this back on will solve the problem. When I get home from school I wi...

I've got good news. Not The only way i can get it to work is to hold up vertically but a little bit toward your self. Then turn it on that way. If you move it past 90" degrees it shuts off the hard drive and the fan starts doing that wierd stuff. There seems to be a lot of problems like this wi...

Ya. We never figured out what was wrong with it. But the owner now has a new notebook that works so i'm free to do whatever with the t23. We think it is a serious hardware problem. We shall see. As of right now I have no solution. I'll try to get it sometime next week and see what i can do with it.

I agree with al_ngl. Norton is a bad choice. I would recommend AVG Free edition. As far as spyware cleaners go you can not have too many spyware cleaners. A good way to avoid spyware is to use a alternative browser such as firefox or opera. It decreased my spyware amounts to about 12. I run my spywa...

What I really want to know is what I need on the mother board Serial ATA/EIDE (which one) brand of motherboard Chip Set type Serial ATA is a nice choice. I just purchased a 250GB Sata Seagate Hard Drive. I was/am amazed with the speed of the drive. The drive also runs fairly cool. There is a huge p...

The possibility of overclocking a retail system is very slim. Plus the system it self is so old it would be cheaper to get a newer system. Along with the speed it would be a smarter decision to purchase a new system. On the overclocking side it would be a waste if it was even possible. Yet it is an ...

I have a friends sisters Thinkpad with me and it has a severe problem. When you turn it on the fan speed goes up and down. Nothing else happens. The hard drive does not even start. The power-on light comes on which it should when it would function normally any how. I completely took the laptop apart...

Yes I am still having trouble with this. I typed in apt-get install gktpod but it just says "root@ubuntu:/home/chris/Desktop # apt-get install gtkpod
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package gtkpod
"
I downloaded gtkpod in tar.gz format.

Is this smell/smoke coming directly from the mobo or the power supply? Also if the mobo is new and you can smell something it is usually the new mobo smell burning off of the connectors nothing to worry about. If not you could try another motherboard. If from the power supply try cleaning it out. ta...

Ok I have a little issue here. I am running Ubuntu 5.04 and am wanting to learn how to install apps on it. I assume it is a debian kernel. I am attempting to install gtkpod which from what i see is a graphical manager for your ipod for linux. I am a complete newbie when it comes to linux. If someone...

I am having the dilemma of choosing a switch/hub. Since I am the main lan guy around here and have a lot of gaming parties i was thinking of getting a 40+ port switch or hub. Even though I don't have many things to hook up I would have the capability to expand as I would like. I was looking around a...

Ya Alex it sounds like your mobo is bad. Unless your mobo is 3-4 years old your sound drivers should work. Try another pci port on your mobo like I told you yesturday. Despite me having my monitor back hook it up to your tv and go from there. Just dont get a head ache. Lol

Try disabling onboard audio. Try changing input devices (mouse, keyboard) as those might be messing it up. Just a suggestion.

Hm. If you really want office 2000 then go on ebay and look for a copy. It shouldnt be that much since its out of date. My question is why would you want office 2k? Slow systems i suppose.
