I also just found out that my isp doesn't support php... would perl be a usable alternative?

I've done a bit of reading on php in the past. I understand the basic $variable and such. How would the variables be stored though? You have a page something.php with several variables in it, where do they get stored on the server? I'm sorry, perhaps this is a really stupid question and I should go ...
