Use of "|" may be "old", but there's nothing really about it to get outdated. In the same way that commas don't get outdated.

That is a good question rodrigo. I think there are differences. If you imagine that you were a search engine engineer trying to lessen the influences of SEO, you might realize that many advertising links are single links, off by themselves, often separated with "|"'s, just like on the bottom of this...

Since this is the Search Engine Forum, and I suppose that implies SEO, there really isn't a lot of point to the keywords meta tag as far as SEO goes. It may be useful for other things, but the major engines stopped paying any attention to that tag a long time ago.

A link exchange thread.
I've seen that done, a directory is a better format, but a link exchange thread can be an easy way to start. Would be nice for your link partners if you've removed SIDs and maybe don't a good mod_rewrite on your forums...

That's true, it can be harder to SEO "everything".
You'll do better to focus on a niche, something with out a gazillion competitors with much deeper pockets than yourself.

If those pages with your links aren't already in the index, submitting is still probably a waste of time for the same reasons mentioned before. Linking to those pages might "help", but if your link partners are that pitiful that you need to prop up their link pages, maybe you'd do better to get bett...

This is for the newbies, or those who learned SEO in the 90's... Don't waste a second of your time doing manual search engine submission forms, or waste a dime of your money paying for a search engine submission program. Why? It's not necessary. With banner exchanges it helps to either already have traffic which helps you earn more advertising from the exchange, or to just purchase exposures. While SEO is considered a black art by many, it operates on simple principles. Problem is that many make outrageous claims about gauranteed results, but that can't be promised.

I run at least 5 directories, some general, some niche.
I also have run a simple search engine, takes a hell of a lot of space!
