Thanks for the ideas and links, RichB, I'll try a couple of them out. After searching around a bit I found that it shouldn't be too terribly difficult, so I'll give it all a whirl.

Thanks again!

Hello all, What I'm looking to do is to display a list of the names and URLs from a computer's Favorites folder, and be able to either print them out, or copy/paste them to print from another program. I'm completely aware that this sounds fairly strange, but it's a terribly long and frightening stor...

Alright, thanks for the explanation. I had already changed the field name (impatience ) but just wanted to ask about it. Guess I probably could have just done a search... Hm, this forum seems to have made me lazy...

Thanks for the help!

Alrighty, more of a curiosity than a question, really, but here goes: I recently made a new table in my database and called one of the fields "lock". This resulted in me spending hours trying to figure out why my INSERT query wouldn't work (from a php page; it worked if I did it directly from phpMyA...

Okay, I've tried both winzip and winrar. Zip isn't working out for me, says it'll only handle the .zip files, probably because it's the 'evaluation version'. Rar gave me an '8 File', which... is interesting. I feel like a complete fool, but more help would be appreciated! :) /jannin Right, an...

Another question, Managedlinks:
What are you using to extract the .tar dealy?
I've tried a couple of different programs and haven't had any luck...

Thanks Managedlinks,
I'll give this a shot. I don't at all mind following someone else's lead, just haven't been able to find any good leads anywhere ;)

Thanks again for the help!

Okay, here goes: I'm looking to build a chatroom for my website. And yes, I want to build it; (a) because I haven't before (b) because I have this thing about challenges and (c) because I'd like it to be able to connect to my database. I'm thinking about making it with Java, so I guess I have two qu...

It's been quite a while but I thought I'd just post what I ended up using after all:
Code: [ Select ]
<a href='javaScript:document.FORM_NAME.submit()'>Submit</a>
Works just like a submit button, redirecting to whatever form action and using whatever method you put in th...

Thanks rj, Actually what I ended up doing while waiting for a response here was a sort of mixture of both of your suggestions: I counted how many digits were in the number I had, then added zeros accordingly. Seems strange to me that there would be no function or anything to do it, though. /jannin

I'm looking for a way to turn a one- or two-digit number into three digits, just putting some nifty zeros at the beginning (001 instead of 1, 017 instead of 17...). Any way to force the number of digits?

Thanks in advance!

Heh, yeah, I'd noticed the clicking. Guess I'll do it in Java. I'm just impatient. As are site users. And I refuse to get some free chat, because I want to make one so I can connect it to my db... Demanding, aren't I? Thanks for the input, guess I'll have to pay a little more attention to my java tu...

Just wondering what the general feeling is about a php chat. My problem is that I'm sure I could figure that out, whereas Java is starting to kill me (even though I've hardly started) I understand most of it, it's just driving me insane because I'm impatient. So, here's my question: I am going to cr...

Thanks ATNO, and sorry for the slow reply.

Checked out the J2RE, but haven't downloaded yet: if I download it and get something to work, what happens when visitors to my site try to view the applet? It wouldn't work unless they've downloaded the J2RE as well, right?

Okay... Thanks nyght, Here's what I discovered: I know I have java capabilities in IE, etc etc, because I can view other java files. Also, I know that I can view java files that I have on my computer, because I downloaded an already compiled .class file, created an applet and ran it both in appletvi...

Hi all, I've just begun to learn Java and got some super simple codes just to try it out. At the moment I've just got one of those great little "hello world" scripts. One of them is Hello.html (calls the applet) the .java file is HelloWorld.java. I compiled it (HelloWorld.class) with javac, and it w...

Tell me I'm an idiot I guess

I'm not exactly sure if about what you mean, but if you mean that you've tried to print the results using php and they printed like this from a variable: &name1=vladdrac&score1=410&name2=vladdrac&score2=152&name3=liam&score3=147 you can use this: [code]$new_variable=str_replace("_1_",&...

Slight problem, Nunzio390, I can't enter that thread, it's members only, and I'd have to pay to register.

Any other ideas?

heh, thanks all, actually I got impatient and figured that part out on my own  but now I'd like to know... is there any way to use the codes you've given me, and change the size of the image so it's the same size as the screen (100%)? Tried to find that out on my own, didn't work too well. x.x...

Okay, sorry about the unclear title... I'd like to know how backgrounds are made so they don't scroll with the text on the page? Probably another easy answer that I could figure out, but ever since I found this forum I've been becoming more and more dependent upon it... Einh. Thanks in advance! /jan...

Hey all, Just wondering if there's any way to stop someone from refreshing a page? Php would be preferable but I can probably manage something else... The reason I'm asking is because I have a form sending information to a database. I don't want the user to be able to refresh the page and accidental...

Hi there, I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but there are some Javascript tutorials here - and the rest of the site isn't bad for tutorials either, although it depends on what you're looking for. In my experience (which isn't a lot but meh) there have been lots of times I've had to go ...

Thanks lostinbeta,

I knew there had to be a proper way to do it, I just got impatient and started fooling around with it instead.

Thanks again!

 never mind, I've figured out something that works. I can't restart the timer but it's for an annoying game that I'm pretty much inventing to bug my site users, so they'll just have to not try to cheat by moving off the image. Here's how I kind of, probably unconventionally "fixed" it, by the ...
