Is there a way to overlap elements using CSS?

Hey Plutunium, your school is Oak Ridge? Mine too. It is a fairly new building, and called Oak Ridge. How strange.

Musik/Rose, is that you in that avatar pic because she's very HOT!

Ok, if it goes how I'm thinking, I'll have a site. One version is a flash version with moving, sound, and zoom zoom zoom. The other will just be static HTML site (with PHP of course). But, to keep the information consistent between the flash version and HTML version, I would need to use a database. ...

Dude, the logo kicks ass.

Ok, this next question is more aimed at Unflux since I've seen him do it, if I wanted to make a flash and just...a static site (yet dynamic) and have the information stay constant through both pages, would using a database be most effecient?

Would you be able to make a dynamic flash site? Like, login, then be able to edit stuff online, like with say..php? Or does every update have to be done by opening the page up in flash, typing it in, and reloading it?

Updated it:

Why are iframes frowned upon so much?

Post Posted: February 6th, 2004, 3:04 pm

Everything in that link you gave me (Safari) looks EXACTLY as I intended it to. It's just Mac IE. But I check today at school what version they used and it was IE5 and it looks so screwed up!! But according to the other link, it should show the same!

Post Posted: February 5th, 2004, 5:43 pm

Wow, great link, now if there was only something like that for the IE!

According to that chart, my site should look exactly as it does on my windows browser but what happens is: the content spans like twice the size of the screen width and the right column disappears and I'm not sure if the bottom footer is even visible. Any ideas why this would be happening?

What are the differences in the same browser, in this case, Internet Explorer, on Windows and then Macs? My site now works with every browser on my computer (I resorted to tables for the content) but when I use the same browser on a Mac, again IE, it looks very other words...HORRID. I...

How much money can you get from hosting ads on your site? I'm wondering if I put ads on my site, whether or not I'll get enough money to pay off like my site bills?

Post Posted: February 3rd, 2004, 7:11 pm

The column, does anyone have an elegant way to just span the rest of the height of the screen? With the way I have it set, it is so obnoxiously long even if there's nothing there! Thanks in advance.

I mean something like If the user is browsing with netscape 4.x, then I'd send it to a page saying something like, "Sorry, this site cannot be viewed with this browser, Netscape 4.x. Please comeback with an upgraded version or a different browser." Something like that. I just want it to ...

Well currently, I'm linking it through to the page it's being used by via <link>. But, I think I have a solution. What if I make the page php, and echo everything through to make it look just like a css declaration in a regular page? Will linking this file compared to linking just a css file h...

Can you use php in css? Like for seasons, I'm thinking of being able to change the colors with one variable. So can you?

Post Posted: February 3rd, 2004, 5:11 pm

How would you make the site look for netscape 4.x and if someone is browsing with that browser, direct them to a special page? I validated my source and css and everything checks out so that's not the problem when displayed with netscape 4.x.

Post Posted: February 3rd, 2004, 5:03 pm

What do you have to even show up on that?

Post Posted: February 2nd, 2004, 9:07 pm

Why would you want to cloack .php to .html anyway?

Post Posted: February 2nd, 2004, 7:03 pm

I'm assuming that you are refering to the scrollbar colors? The short answer is because your Doctype Declaration (DTD) is correct. Yes, I did say that the way I intended to your DTD is CORRECT. That's what's causing the colored scrollbars not to work. What you currently have as your DTD is what the...

Thanks, that is one question solved, although the CSS thread really wasn't talking about that. I mean like in, my div bars are a lot longer than their actual content. Why is this?

Post Posted: February 2nd, 2004, 8:09 am

Does anyone know why my css declarations are not working?

here's a link. (For the source, right click -> View Source)

Post Posted: February 2nd, 2004, 7:49 am

I've tried validating my css and the only problem the validator has a problem with is the scrollbar. I've checked to see if it was all right and everything seems to be in order. This is the buggy part: [code] BODY { margin: 0; cursor: default; /*FROM HERE*/ scrollbar-face-color: #33...

Ok, for like my main page, I'm thinking of putting the content stuff in just regular html files and including them. I don't want to put them into MySQL because I don't want to clutter it up with other stuff when phpBB already uses it. Does doing it this way have any speed or security implications wh...

Are you running apache? If so, there's a part of the httpd.conf file that you can change which has list of filenames it can search for for the default page.

Is there something out there that I could just print out and read in my spare time say, like during school?

Post Posted: January 26th, 2004, 9:14 pm

If you mean use css by using divs, I already tried that and I've had a hell of a time trying to make that work. Was there another way you had in mind?

Post Posted: January 26th, 2004, 7:53 pm

Alright I followed your instructions. But the problem with the top bar still exists. It's just too big. I don't have any properties defined for it concerning height other than the cellpadding and I've fiddled with that already and that's not the problem.
