No problem, I understand, I should have been clearer... Anchor text is the phrase that you use when linking your site. See the difference in your signature and mine on this board? Your link is a straight url, but mine is readable words that link to my site. There is a difference in how these two lin...

Well, I think that most buy domains to have an identity and something that they are in control of and something that is easy to remember. But I'm in it for the sake of the site, not for the AdSense. That said, blogs are great for keeping up with friends and ranting, but they are not a website, they ...

Those should only account for one within a 24 hour period right?

Good luck with the site. It's designed very well - the registration process is extremly painless, even on dial-up here at work. The templates could use a little work - but there are a few good ones that stand out, namely "Fog" and "Noir".

Overall I have to give you an "A" :)

If this is so, how is it that I can get to my CP and edit/maniuplate files? Because most of the time your control panel URL isn't the same as your website URL. Work may have just blacklisted your URL and not the hosting company's which is where the control panel is, most likely. If you continue to ...

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this but, I would like to do a mod_rewrite for my forum so the session IDs aren't a problem for google or other SEs.

Can anyone point me to a tutorial on how to do this? I'm running vBulletin 3.0.8 - TIA.

Post Posted: September 18th, 2005, 2:47 pm

PermTech, The site looks very nice to me - the only thing I would suggest changing would be the rounded top image to your body. With the header cutting straight across like that, the body shouldn't have the image on the top - it should come right up to the header and let the table define its shape. ...

And maybe this place is overpriced, it's the only place I've advertised before - but 100% of the traffic is customers interested in the product we're advertising - so there's no wasted impressions. And they limit the number of banners per month to ensure your's is seen. All good things.

Post Posted: September 18th, 2005, 1:33 pm

Did you design the whole layout of the site? The background and tables looks like one of those predefined templates you can buy. If you did design it, you should work for one of those places that makes those predefined templates you can buy. :)

Nice job.

Is this a fixed size? If not, the Flash file is HUGE and might not easily be seen on a screen with a smaller (normal) resolution. The design and navigation are wonderful, no problems there. You bulk text could use a new font IMHO, but that's just my flavor, not a flaw on your end. I like the colors,...

don't you have ftp access to one of your domains? Like the fall of autumn site? or did they block the student machines from FTP'ing? They blocked all student FTPing, only instructor machines allow it. Could someone explain the PHP stuff a little more, or maybe supply a link? I've never used anythin...

I am currently a full-time college student for Graphic Design. However, because of the imaturity of some of my fellow classmates, our FTP access has been turned off by the admins. dM, I guess I'm too young to understand The Beatles 'evolution', when I started listening to music Lennon was already dead. I'm not saying the Beatles are bad or anything, just think they get much more credit than they deserve. I can think of many of their songs I enjoy (Paperback Writer, Elenore Ri...

And see if you can name a band that released a tune in the 70's, got to #1 for weeks, then re-released that song again in the 90's, got to #1 for several more weeks... Queen did it :) I'll agree about the beatles being overated... Elvis is HUGELY overrated too... To a point I even think Hendrix was...

Ouch dM , saw Nirvana listed above... OT: I know they get A LOT of credit for doing very little (only four studio albums) but I have one scrap of proof that this band was, and still is, the greatest: "You Know You're Right" Recorded in 1994, released almost TEN YEARS LATER in 2003 and STILL a huge s...

If your source is just a stereo track, you will never be able to remove them completely... However, if it is a commercially produced track, the EQ rules that apply to it (for radio and other playback mediums) will make it easy for you to remove most of the vocals. If you have SoundForge downloaded b...

That's weird because I thought the same thing, but didn't want to put too much 'movement' on the page, which is why I opted for the plain stars as backdrop. I was originally thinking of something like spaceship parts that had crashed into the top of the grid and was laying there, sparking electricit...

I redesigned this site for a friend's novel: The Infinity Grid http://www.alanjoseph.com/kimbrell.htm I need to finish the Bio info, but everything else is up... what do you think? Dell... I got my Dell 15 months ago, paid a very decent price (all custome built) and it still smokes most of the PCs at any current retail shop: Pentium 2.4GHz w/ 533MHz FSB (nothing impressive here, but nothing to sneeze at either) 768MB RDRAM RAMBUS PC1066 (here is where the performance is!) 60 G...

If I want to create an auto-run file on a mac, what is the equivalent of an executable (.exe) file from the PC?

Rainman, just had a chance to look at the site, very cool design! I just started playing around with some Flash stuff, nothing coming close to what you have here though. Can't wait to see some more work from you here, this one really looks nice! :thumbs-up:

gba_m, Thanks for taking a look. The domain changes after the 'splash' page because I have two servers. Taking Back Sunday, AFI, Evanescence, Pink Floyd, Nine Inch Nails, The Doors, Savage Garden, Dream Theater, Nirvana and Kill Hannah.

These are the influences of each of the band members so the list is of a variety of three different tastes.
