gigablast is getting good too.

Probably when you search @ home, it's hitting a different server. Have you tried with different browsers @ home?

Post Posted: August 10th, 2004, 12:47 pm

Is that true that links from different IPs are becoming more & more important?
Has anybody done any kind of tests?

Post Posted: August 10th, 2004, 12:35 pm

705 Mhz is fast enough. It shouldn't be doing it. May be there is some kind of incompatible problem with the OS.

Try XP Service Pack 2, it just came out.

Use FTP. You need to set up the server FTP info.

There are all kinds of GPSs out there. I just bought a bluetooth one for my PDA. You can get one for your lap top with windows software.

Post Posted: July 17th, 2004, 5:01 pm

I see a lot of sites with many more backlinks showing up now. The thing is none of these sites have any new PR. Same PR as before. 1 site went from under 1000 backlinks to 9000 backllinks. PR staying the same.

Post Posted: July 15th, 2004, 2:38 pm

Just installed the tool. It works great. Now, how can I install Alexa toolbar on FireFox?

If Yahoo and HotMail does not scan the emails how do they know whether something is Spam or not. They both have bulk folders!

Post Posted: July 14th, 2004, 1:18 pm

How long have the site been up? Do you have links coming into the site?

Post Posted: July 14th, 2004, 1:14 pm

Why don't you check out my directory. I also submitted to bluefind - initially I was on a PR7 page, but as more and more people submitted to my category my site moved into a subcategory page.

Post Posted: July 9th, 2004, 2:10 pm

Hi.
Are you using mod rewrite for the pages? It's nice. I like the way you have it set up.

Post Posted: July 9th, 2004, 2:07 pm

Dreamweaver is pretty good. And HTML for dummies!

Post Posted: July 9th, 2004, 2:05 pm

Yes. it's possible, even without xml feeds. You can get the content of the 3rd party site and parse the results that you want to display. Any language can do it, php, asp, jsp.

Post Posted: July 2nd, 2004, 11:14 am

Google should index the pages as long as the parameters are not that long.

Post Posted: July 2nd, 2004, 11:06 am

Try searching those script sites.
What language are you looking at?

Post Posted: July 2nd, 2004, 10:34 am

Can you use Regex expressions?

Is it the search application on the desktop that allows you to search your hard drive also?

Post Posted: July 2nd, 2004, 10:23 am

Are you getting a lot of links coming in with the right keyword as your anchor text?

Post Posted: July 2nd, 2004, 10:18 am

AdSense is a good program. Loads pretty fast. Pays well and they do check for fraudulant clicks.

Post Posted: July 2nd, 2004, 10:07 am

I am wondering about that also.
Is it based on how strong the link is coming in to the site?

Post Posted: July 2nd, 2004, 10:05 am

Try whois.sc.

Post Posted: July 2nd, 2004, 10:04 am

You can put normal text with the flash content.
If you want to rank high, just get a lot of links coming in with the right anchor text.

Post Posted: July 2nd, 2004, 10:02 am

I heard good things about websphere also. But you can't beat the price of OS Commerce. 20,000 products should be okay. It really depends on the amount of traffic though.

Post Posted: July 2nd, 2004, 9:56 am

A lot of the time, affiliate links have ?affid=**** and you won't get PR for your home page from those links.

Post Posted: June 8th, 2004, 2:29 pm

I usually do the same. Get as many links as possible on the main page with a few different variations of the anchor text, and then link to internals; once there's enough PR on the main index page, then start getting s few links to the sub pages.

Post Posted: June 8th, 2004, 11:20 am

A well developed theme site will get a lot of people linking to it so it'll do well. But the most important for ranking on Google is links coming in.

Post Posted: June 8th, 2004, 11:10 am

This one works like Google search with PR. You can use google commands like link: etc.

How can you rank high on the Yahoo webrank? Also, where is a simulator for Yahoo webrank; I remember seeing a site that has it.

Post Posted: June 8th, 2004, 10:46 am

searchengineworld.com has some articles on there also.

Post Posted: June 8th, 2004, 10:41 am

I have some key words ranked pretty high on google, but not optimized on the index page. I have a lot of links with that keyword as anchor text coming in though.

Post Posted: June 8th, 2004, 10:34 am

You should use 301 redirects.
The redirect u r using is Javascript and it's not a good method.

What kind of server r u running. Php, asp, etc. Just do a search on 301 redirect.

Post Posted: June 8th, 2004, 10:30 am

The ranking on Alexa, is it based on unique visitors or just plain Hits.

Post Posted: June 8th, 2004, 10:28 am

I've been waiting for my sites to be listed also.
On 1 of them it's been over 6 months.

Post Posted: June 8th, 2004, 10:25 am

I think you can use Google for that also. Google Site Search.

Post Posted: June 8th, 2004, 10:24 am

Yea, i think AOL and ask uses google. MSN is pretty high. Is MSN still using Inktomi/Yahoo?

Post Posted: June 8th, 2004, 10:22 am

Yea, you can also submit it to Google.

http://www.google.com/addurl.html

But like snookercue said, the best way is to get links on other sites to your site.

Post Posted: June 8th, 2004, 10:17 am

I heard Yahoo is old school - using onpage SEO.

I am also wondering how I can increase the backlink popularity on yahoo, MSN, and alltheweb.

Post Posted: June 8th, 2004, 10:14 am

Usually send an email with the instruction to the person I am exchanging links with.

Also, I read some messages that you PR is not being transferred from link pages with the names link, links, etc...

Does it work well? How much time do you have to spend on getting reciprocal links?

How about the directory structure it creates - is it optimized to give back high PR links or the links are buried under the categories?

Post Posted: June 2nd, 2004, 10:51 am

Google suggestion is for 100 links max per page.
But not sure whether it's incoming links or outbound links.

Post Posted: June 2nd, 2004, 10:48 am

It could, but it could also trigger spam filters so kind of hard to tell.

Post Posted: June 2nd, 2004, 10:46 am

Yea, you could do that. Just change the Title and keywords for each page, and use the same template for the rest of the pages.

Post Posted: June 2nd, 2004, 10:44 am

I am seeing PR5 for both pages you listed.

I've seen pages with no content but linked by a PR10 site and that page has a PR9.

Post Posted: June 2nd, 2004, 10:36 am

I think google can crawal through the HTML parts. The only part it may not is the javascript part.

Post Posted: June 2nd, 2004, 10:33 am

No probably not. Privacy/trade secret issues.

Post Posted: June 2nd, 2004, 10:31 am

Nice. Google uses DMOZ directory listing so you are in DMOZ too.

Post Posted: June 2nd, 2004, 10:20 am

Cool tool and it works.
Isn't it what Proogle used to be? Wasn't it blocked?

Post Posted: June 2nd, 2004, 10:17 am

Yea, I think Google won't index SSL pages.

I see your main page has PR of 3, with 1 backlink and about 60 pages in the index. But no PRs for the lower level pages.

Post Posted: June 2nd, 2004, 9:26 am

I see that your site is listed on DMOZ. If you want to rank high for those key words you need to get more links coming into your site with those key words as anchor text. I think that would be the best way to improve the ranking.

Post Posted: June 2nd, 2004, 9:16 am

If you have a lot of outside links also, it's considered okay?
Is crosslinking same as reciprocal linking?
A lot of people do reciprocal linking, it's not okay?

Post Posted: May 27th, 2004, 12:30 am

Your site to too new.
You gotta have some patience. Your PR is still 0, it will take some time may be by next update.
Keep on getting links with your main keyword as the anchor text.

There is also the Sandbox effect for new sites.

Post Posted: May 27th, 2004, 12:23 am

No frame tag texts and links work. A lof of web hosts use it to forward the sites and get a link back. But it's kinda like SE spam.

I use adword on some of my sites, and happy with the results. There is a learning curve in the beginning - your ads can get disabled b/c you are not getting enough clicks. Thanks for the info. This is very interesting.

You can just record it with the recorder that came with windows. then include in the web site.

Do any of you know whether we can have both image ads and text link ads on the same page?

Post Posted: May 20th, 2004, 4:23 pm

It could be that the clicks are clicks coming from foreign countries, or free proxy servers, so they won't count it.

Post Posted: May 20th, 2004, 4:19 pm

A lot of sites sell ad space. The most expensive I've seen so far is a link on the front page of foxnews.com.

I think the links are going for like $12,000 a month and there are like 9 advertisers on there.

Meta Tags are still useful for Yahoo.
I think the #1 most important is getting relevant links.

Post Posted: May 20th, 2004, 3:59 pm

Webmasterworld is also pretty popular. GoogleGuy occasionally visits there.

Post Posted: May 20th, 2004, 3:57 pm

I've been using title on some of my HREF tags.
I think it works well.

Post Posted: May 20th, 2004, 3:55 pm

It takes some time, probably about 4 or 5 months before the pages are settled... especially for a site with a lot of pages.

Post Posted: May 20th, 2004, 3:39 pm

I think it would help for the keywords being in the domain name.

Post Posted: May 19th, 2004, 11:23 pm

I know a friend who wrote his whole web site in PHP but he prefers ASP. He thinks php is buggy.

He used PHP on his site because it's free and MYSQL works well with it. It's also more of a standard on the web. If you want to sell some script, almost every host support PHP.

Post Posted: May 19th, 2004, 5:20 pm

website.com/page.asp?id=15 and
website.com/page.asp?id=10 are different pages.

They can have different PRs, even though the actual visible pages are the same (making it similar to duplicate page). PR will depends on how many links are coming to each of those pages.

Post Posted: May 19th, 2004, 5:10 pm

Thanks for the article. This is good because you don't need to put those hypens there anymore.

Post Posted: May 19th, 2004, 5:07 pm

DMOZ will list subpages to different categories?
I thought only the domains?

Post Posted: May 19th, 2004, 5:06 pm

GoogleBot is there everyday now. Microsoft is there a lot also.

Inktomi - not as much.

Post Posted: May 17th, 2004, 6:38 pm

you are lucky. a lot of sites use dmoz directory data. getting dmoz listing is like winning the lottery.

You may need to download personal webserver. I think MS gives it away for free.

Is there a way to use iframe where I don't have to specify the height of the frame?

It'll adjust to whatever the size of the web page that I am including with IFRAME tag.

Post Posted: May 17th, 2004, 10:04 am

I have seen some new Google test that they did showing that H2 tags are better than H1 tags for the on page optimization.

Post Posted: May 17th, 2004, 10:02 am

The traffic I get for my sites are almost even from Yahoo and Google eventhough I am ranked much better on Google. It's a strange phenomenon. Don't know where my Yahoo traffic is coming from.

Post Posted: May 17th, 2004, 9:57 am

Yahoo takes some time, especiall to do deep index.

Post Posted: May 17th, 2004, 9:51 am

On some of my sites, google index the url with www same as the url without www. Same PR, same results. On other sites, it's different. It's weird.

Post Posted: May 13th, 2004, 8:03 pm

That page has 65 backlinks that's PR4+ right now. This shows you don't even need to do on page SEO if you have links coming in.

Post Posted: May 13th, 2004, 11:04 am

You can find a keyword density analyzer here:

Post Posted: May 12th, 2004, 9:58 pm

Looks like a lot of SEOs in the tournament.
over 20,000 results on google for those search words.
Adword ads for those words also.

Post Posted: May 12th, 2004, 9:54 pm

Are you using the API calls? I thought you can get up to 1000 queries.

Post Posted: May 12th, 2004, 9:53 pm

I think it's just rumors right now.
But a lot of talk about it in the forums.

Post Posted: May 11th, 2004, 10:19 pm

I like using web emails though. I can use it any where there's web since i travel quite a bit.

Post Posted: May 11th, 2004, 10:16 pm

set up different directories named with the target keyword you want. If not, use the keywords as your file name.

Post Posted: May 11th, 2004, 10:13 pm

If i am # 1 on the free listing, i might still pay for the paid listing also. But it will depend on ROI.

I have seen some ecomm sites with #1 listing on google, paying to be #1 on the paid listing also.

Post Posted: May 11th, 2004, 1:54 pm

Since they have different pages for different keywords, i would try to optimize for specific keywords for those pages.

Then probably general keywords for the main page. Have different anchor texts coming in to the front page.

Post Posted: May 11th, 2004, 1:52 pm

Why don't you type in the domain name of your url in the search:

nameofsite.com

Post Posted: May 11th, 2004, 1:50 pm

I submitted my site.
Nice site. Both web search and diretory. How is the directory set up?
Is it your own or the results from DMOZ?

Post Posted: May 11th, 2004, 1:13 pm

Hm.. I am not so sure. I think actual text has more strength. The SEPRS could be high for alt b/c it could be from the links with the anchor text.

Post Posted: May 11th, 2004, 1:11 pm

I usually used the same ones also.
Just the Title, Description, and keywords.

Does it make a difference how many keywords are in the keywords meta tag. If I have many, does it take away the strength of the words?

Post Posted: May 11th, 2004, 1:04 pm

How can I get listed on DMOZ?
Been waiting for months for many sites.

What do they do when there are no editors for the category?

When asked on the DMOZ forum, they said still waiting for editorial review. :(

Only 1 of my sites is listed there.

Post Posted: May 11th, 2004, 12:59 pm

Hmm.. may be that explains why some of my rankings went up last few days. Does google distinguish between "word" and "words"? If I have "words" as a keyword, when someone search for "word" will google include the results with "words". I didn't think they would, but I am seeing some different results...

Post Posted: May 10th, 2004, 9:40 pm

How did you get on DMOZ? That's really good. I have many sites and only 1 of them are in DMOZ. The other ones, they said it's still under editorial review!

Post Posted: May 10th, 2004, 4:24 pm

Hm..
I would use different targeted keywords for the directories.
Your URL has 1 word, and i don't think search engines will recognize it. Use dashes to separate the words in the directory.

Post Posted: May 10th, 2004, 1:45 pm

yea, yahoo has almost the same # of searchers as Google. Only about 5% difference. Need a place to learn more about Yahoo optimization.

Post Posted: May 10th, 2004, 1:38 pm

You can get a PR6 just from a link in DMOZ. My friend has a site with no other links and its PR jumped to 6 after listed on DMOZ.

Post Posted: May 10th, 2004, 1:31 pm

How did you get into DMOZ? They still let sites in?

Post Posted: May 10th, 2004, 1:28 pm

I've never paid for search engines to index my sites. I won't mind paying for DMOZ though.

Post Posted: May 7th, 2004, 5:28 pm

DMOZ has a directory that include pics of the page.
http://open.thumbshots.org

Post Posted: May 7th, 2004, 5:22 pm

These days, it's between Google and Yahoo. They are almost neck to neck. Most SEOs concentrate on Google though.

I think what you are talking about is AdWord; you have to pay to get your site listed. On Yahoo, Overture results show up on top as sponsored listing also.

Post Posted: May 7th, 2004, 5:18 pm

I think google does give PR to forums. The ones I've seen, they have forum data in regular pages. Most of the time we don't see the PR b/c of session, we are logged in .

Post Posted: May 6th, 2004, 1:50 pm

I have seen a few sites doing it. digitalpoint and seo-guy; i like the tool from seo-guy. There is also a software that's being sold that can get the PRs.

Post Posted: May 6th, 2004, 1:39 pm

Been trying to get some of my sites on DMOZ for a while. Last time I checked on one of my sites about a month ago, they said it's still in editorial review. It's been almost 6 months.

Post Posted: May 5th, 2004, 1:37 pm

I am going to try to bid for some. I remember those old days when WIT Capital was giving away those IPO shares. Those were the good times...

Post Posted: May 5th, 2004, 1:33 pm

I've seen a few of those emails. I would be interested in a similar script also. They are pretty neat.

Post Posted: May 5th, 2004, 1:30 pm

So these spywares are changing the search results on the HTML pages, and making it look like it's coming from Google? I wonder what Google and other SEs think about this.

Post Posted: May 5th, 2004, 1:22 pm

You can try to hide and do all kinds of neat stuff with javascript and CSS to fool the spiders but SEs don't like it . . . it's like trying to manipulate the results.

Post Posted: May 5th, 2004, 1:19 pm

Get a lot of links coming to your site to raise your pr. Use the key words that you want to target as anchor text for those links on other sites.

Post Posted: May 4th, 2004, 9:23 pm

Change the anchor text on the links. Change the Title of the page.

Post Posted: May 3rd, 2004, 2:59 pm

I have a few sites, still waiting after months . . . They said it's still in editorial review stage.

Post Posted: May 3rd, 2004, 2:40 pm

Don't think google will be charging for inclusion in their directory. They will probably be bringing out more services like GMail, and other services like what they said in that article about Google OS.

Post Posted: May 3rd, 2004, 2:15 pm

I have seen a similar tool on seo-guy.com site.

Post Posted: May 3rd, 2004, 2:09 pm

Post Posted: April 28th, 2004, 12:29 am

I think there is an advantage to using relative directory links within the pages. You can have double the amount of pages indexed in google. Remember, http://sitename.com and http://www.sitename.com are supposed to be different.

Does Google use this 64.233.161.98 server on their final index?

Or is it just one of those servers that Google is testing, and it'll never be in the final index on google.com?

Any ideas on how Yahoo is assigning ranks to the sites? What criteria are they using? Are they using something similar to links like google?

What is the significance of 64.233.161.98 servers? Also, the PR from those servers?
Is it the final index before they let it out to google.com?

A lot of the top results from google and yahoo seems similar.
Is Yahoo using incoming links as a criteria for the rankings?

You probably need to do an agressive linking campaign. You are doing pretty good with it though since u r already on the 2nd page.

Another good think about DMOZ is that they syndicate their data and other people uses their data on their sites.

I saw a site that's listed only on DMOZ and went to PR6 b/c of their syndication.

Submit to DMOZ and get people to put a link to your site on their site. The higher the PR of the site linking to you, the better.

I think a lot more than what's in google. There are many pages that are not in the google index.

No charge to submit your site to my directory.

Do links from yahoo directory appear on any other sites? Do they syndicate that info like DMOZ?

Thanks. Good find.

I know what you are talking about. I won't do it. I heard google is looking into being able to read javascript.

Yeah, looks like google is switching between data centers.
The result from before could be from freshbot also and your site is not in the index yet..

When I try to register, I am getting an error.

Optimize your site and get links.
There are many sources out there to get free traffic.
Adword, and overture work also.

You should try to optimize the site and do a lot of link exchange with other sites in the field. Go to discussion boards in related field and post messages there with your signature.

What does google bot do when there's Javascript? Does it just ignore it?

Anybody knows?

Post Posted: January 27th, 2004, 5:04 pm

Don't believe redirected links count as links to your site.
There is a way to do it though (in javascript), but it involves the person who's doing the linking to change some codes.

It looks like they took out some backlinks on my sites.
Results seem to be about the same.

Seeing some sites with #1 position for a competitive word with many hidden links.
