I do have the web start etc.
But I took your advice and went to add/remove progs and found I had 2 versions of Java - 1.4.2_04 and 1.4.2_05. don't know how that happened!

Thanks so much daremedy! You are a gem!

Can anyone tell me this:-

Can ALT text be changed in any way (edited)?

For example - seperated into 2 or 3 lines or a small block of text instead of just 1 long line/sentence?

Can the font/background colour be changed?

Sounds simple!

Thank you.

Post Posted: November 22nd, 2004, 5:31 pm

Thanks all of you. Firstly.. I used Dynamic Drive's 'Image Viewer 2' javascript to create the image rollover effect. Took me a while but I got it to work. Thats why I can't figure out where to put text for each pic: the text would either have to share the image OR appear seperately on the page (woul...

Hi, As a novice, after much blood sweat and tears (well, maybe not blood - yet!) I eventually managed to build my site ALMOST the way I'd like it....almost. Sadly, it is incomplete. I could do with some help. Firstly, it would help to have a wee look at it: http://www.mohawks.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ N...

Post Posted: August 5th, 2004, 5:37 pm

Here's my question... I want to make a graphic appear as if from a dot. That doesn't sound right so I'll try again... I've added your 'This Land' link to my favourites.
Would you mind if I passed it on to my UK friends? I will only do so with your permission - you certainly deserve recognition!

I meant to say that the 'Cats' page is the latest to be worked on so would be the best example to look at: the other pages will eventually look the same. (I use the Cats page as a test page!)

Post Posted: April 12th, 2004, 11:40 am

I've finally managed to publish the first part of my new site (for testing purposes only for now). What I'd like to know is - is it possible to have the big images appear in the centre instead of to the left? http://www.mohawks.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ (Click on 'Coming Soon' to enter, then on any roll...

OK...here goes. I've just published the test page I spoke of along with a few notes. For those folks who have helped me so far, the notes are for you. Hi ML, Thanks for replying again - and for the suggestions. The 'back' and 'next' text links were only temp so that you could at least navigate what I'd published so far. I will change them so that they fit in with the rest. Just to let you know I've been messing with the table idea - trial and erro...

Post Posted: April 6th, 2004, 5:35 pm

I've posted another few pages... How do I use the space either side (and possibly a bit at the top or bottom?) So far I've managed to insert image titles by extending the table, but I want to place a nav bar on one side and maybe a logo+ on the other. Sounds simple eh? As always, I'd value some input.

Post Posted: April 4th, 2004, 6:59 pm

Hiya ML! Before I begin I want you to know that it's 2.50am right now and I'm now thinking more than I'm typing! I just had a wee look at your site and and thought simetimes it's refreshing to see the simplicity of things. Your site does the job it's meant to...but being the 'arty type', I must conf...

Yes - it's all mine...there's still a lot to be published! I'm trying to put the art in groups of 'mini galleries' - that's why I had to get the first one right! It's basically my online portfolio and hopefully, will attract some work! I'm unemployed and have been for a while and that's no fun in UK...

Thanks again ML.
How do I get the links to go to the images on my server instead of C:/ ?
I've tried changing the html but the pics just disappear!

I think I've also conquered the layout prob. See what you think.

Post Posted: April 1st, 2004, 2:08 pm

I've already posted about the following but I think I made my post look too complicated so forgive me for trying another, more simple approach! I'm trying to set up a web page using Dynamic Drive's 'Image Thumbnail Viewer II'. It allows the visitor to simply 'rollover' the thumbnail and view the 'bi...

You're really convincing me cerio... I had a 'bash' at it today actually and managed to progress a wee bit further than before and I felt quite positive! Post Posted: March 30th, 2004, 3:34 pm

Thanks cerio. I know it sounds crazy but I've had Dreamweaver 4 for a few months now but as I said previously I'm a bit 'scared' of it - there's a helluva lot to it compared to FrontPage 2k, which although basic, is my 'safe' option for now! I really want to get into DW - you guys are not the only o...

Post Posted: March 24th, 2004, 1:02 am

Hmmm - that sounds interesting. I thought Dreamweaver was a bit complicated so I've been sticking with my old FP. I may have to look into DW now.
Thanks.

Post Posted: March 23rd, 2004, 2:05 pm

I've been copying and pasting into the html page, but when it's pasted it has changed quite a bit! I have tried hard to change it so that it looks the same as the original code/s. It's a real pain!!

Scorpius - you're gonna hate me for this! Again, I couldn't get your edit to work so I'm posting the entire page! I'm so sorry! Here it is... (note: I've also noticed that when I copy and paste html into Front Page, I have to change a lot of it eg. these things <> appear as something dif...

Post Posted: March 22nd, 2004, 6:32 pm

No Scorpius - the script change didn't work: I just got a 'script error on page' warning.

Post Posted: March 22nd, 2004, 1:04 pm

Sorry but where do I make this file and why am I doing this? :?

Post Posted: March 22nd, 2004, 11:17 am

Thanks for the hint the Maven - I should be able to work that out now!

Scorpius - I have my own webspace with bluyonder and I don't have PHP.
What exactly is it and do I need it?

Post Posted: March 22nd, 2004, 5:46 am

YEEEHAAAA!
Thank you soooo much Scorpius - it works!

My next question is this:
My big pics are all different sizes and proportions.
Can this script be changed to accomodate this?

Speak soon...

Post Posted: March 21st, 2004, 2:34 pm

Well Scorpius - I'm most surprised that most of it seems correct, really I am! I must be getting the hang of this script stuff after all! I'll give it a try tommorow coz it's getting late and I've been at this pc all day! .. That should work, and could you give link to where this page is located in ...

Post Posted: March 21st, 2004, 10:33 am

Could someone please correct this scipt for me? It's supposed to create an Image Thumbnail Viewer! I've been trying all day but nothing is showing up on my preview page and, to be quite honest, I've never used many scripts before. I found it here: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/thumbnail....

What can I say? You guys are amazing. I've spent ages trying to find a way of doing this and I think you've sussed it literally overnight!
