Google gathers results from Google analytics. Most of the big companies avoid using Google analytics since it is less efficient.

Link:Url does not show all and every link pointing back to any given domain.
Google does play lots of hide n seek when it comes to displaying important information such as number of backlinks.

Search engine industry will only increase in the next few years.
