Im trying to guage how tough my seo project is going to be, originally I optimized for the biggest keyword which had about 8 million results in google. Thanks for the response Atno. So just so I understand you correctly:
google see's the links, and gives them some weight and it IS considered spamming? So basically could I get banned for doing this? Is it spamming because I'm the one posting the entries?

I have a blog under a subdomain of my site. By posting entries myself with links to my my site, is that considered spamming my owm blog? Will google see those links? Do they carry any weight?

Ok, so I recently re-evaluated the keywords I will target. I've chosen to go after less popular keywords in hopes of being able to rank. In terms of keyword competition, if my best keyword has 8 million results in Google, does that mean I'll probaly never get to the top? Or is that actually reasonable seeing that some keywords have many more millions of results than that? Im trying to guage whether Im pissin in the wind or not by try...

I don't think it's sleazy, it's simple competition. As long as you arent breaking the rules then it's fair game in my book.

I guess if I had millions to spend on ads then I wouldnt need seo, too bad Im broke!
