the 403 is probably there because apache doesn't have read permissions to the files you're trying to serve. While you may make individual user sites, the same permissions rules still apply.

Is there an actual use for this other than sending spam?

At least it's not Windblows.

AnarchY, I remember a time when you hated Ubuntu too - you've just been corrupted by the dark side. Please don't tell me one of your other distros is Suse.

If you're using Compiz (under Gnome or KDE) all you need to do is enable the screenshot plugin and set or find out what the initialize action is (I think by default it's <SUPER><SHIFT>Button 3, but I'm not too sure about that). If you're using CCP, the plugin is under "Extras" ...

I think I'd plug the drive into the first SATA master on the motherboard too. It probably won't affect anything, but I'm just a little bit obsessive about plugging stuff into things in the right order and whatnot. thats what i suggested 12 posts ago :P he was supposed to try & tell us if it wor...

there's a little tiny jumper on 4 pins on the back of the hard drive. If it's a SATA 2 drive, you DEFINITELY NEED to have that set to jump the left two pins (if looking at the side the pins are on with the label up). I'm really not even sure of how your board is reading that drive, but if it's in 3....

That's rather odd, "fdisk -l" *should* show the size and partition tables of any block device seen by the system (including flash drives). Are you by chance plugged into a SATA 1 slot with a SATA 2 drive set to 3.0Gps instead of 1.5Gps? Look for a jumper on the drive and, if so, thank the ...

I'm pretty much standardized on Fedora since I've been using it regularly since RHL 6 (the name may have changed, but it's still the same animal). Luckily, I don't have an ATI video card and the Nvidia drivers do work fine. The only other two distros I use regularly (that some client didn't install)...

This looks relevant: http://www.aerospacesoftware.com/samba- ... -howto.htm

If you're just talking Linux systems, you'd be better off using NIS/NFS (also tunneled) because it's far more efficient than AD.

Instability comes from the Windows side of things, not the Linux side of things, though a lot can be dependent upon which distro you're using. In any case, updates *shouldn't* be overwriting *changed* pam files. Rather, depending on your distro, you should get the new pam file with an extension like...

Yes, that's correct. You'd want a command something like:
Code: [ Download ] [ Select ]
# chgrp -Rf mygroup /directory
As a side note, you can change full ownership with something like:
Code: [ Download ] [ Select ]
# chown -Rf user:group /directory
You may want to look into making that CentOS box an NIS server, which could alleviat...

Ubuntu likes to change the normal way of doing things just for the sake of doing it. It's just one of the things that makes it a crappy distro.

In this case it wouldn't have even taken that much, at least read the thread you're posting on.

Ever browse to http://localhost:631/ on a CUPS-ready Linux machine? All you have to do is Add a printer, select IPP from the drop-down and enter the address and select the make and model. Perhaps this would help: http://localhost:631/help/network.html The USB to Ethernet adapter might be OK for a ho...
