You can also try forum posting (with signature) for back links. There are those who say these types of links are considered not very valuable to the SEs. I'd like to know if this is true, as many of my own backlinks come from signature links. That's why I have signatures in the first place! W...

A lot of my BLs from different directory, where I didn't pay any money, seem to have disappeared from the G index :(

Same here, I hope this is not a permanent change in the SERPs as I cannot explain how I can rank below some of the sites by the basic SEO rules.

I still seem to show more BLs in G than the others ranking above me. That's is the annoying bit. I show nearly 3/4 times more BLs than most of the sites ranking above me. By the way, do the BLs from the forum weigh as much? I am an active member of my local forums and regularly post. I also post to ...

Hi all, I have been learning SEO for the last 2-2.5 years and learnt a great deal from forums like OZZU. However, after the recent G changes, everything I have learnt seems to have gone upside down. Here's my dilemma. My site (appleton-estates*com) is over 1 year old and for 6-7 months before the re...

I am in a similar position w.r.t. G and MSN.

I think MSN is more keen on having the keyphrases in the domain or subdomain. Since I don't have in mine, I don't rank as well in MSN :(

I didn't require an invite to test out the Google Pages. I just logged into http://pages.google.com with my Gmail ID and pass.

It's still very basic but simple and powerful. As far as I can see it is not offering more than any other Free online web design tools, such as the Tripod one.

The next step will be link building.

Best wishes with the site.

It looks great. But the question is what are you planning to use the site for?

If you want to be found in the searches, I hear that Flash is not a very spider friendly.

Good luck...

I wouldn't personally use Flash. There are arguments for and against using it due to SEO reasons. Maybe other members can comment on that but Flash sites.

Interesting observation:

My site still does not come up in UK specific searches for Google but it does show up in UK specific Yahoo searches.

I reckon this is down to Yahoo reading the Meta tags and acting on them.

I think you need to step back and ask yourself what you are trying to achieve. If your aim to rank well with searches on certain key phrases. Having a PR 8 site/page may not be the only way of achieving it. A good SEO is as important may be more important than a high PR in my opinion. Thus, I think ...
